Here we go again! It’s time for another monthly favorites post, of course!
Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with a long intro – let’s get started!
P.S. I’m sorry I’m late!
MORPHE MB23 ROUND BLENDER ($4.99)
I absolutely love this brush for applying my transition color, and buffing out harsh lines. And as an added bonus, it’s a great dupe for the Sigma E40, which can be a little on the pricey side, coming in right around $16 for a single brush. This has quickly become one of my everyday, go-to brushes.
L’OREAL INFALLIBLE PRO-MATTE 24HR FOUNDATION ($12.99)
If you’re looking for a foundation that stays put through pretty much any situation, this will be your new baby! The shade range can be a little tricky (I have to mix two of them to get my perfect shade), but for such a fantastic formula from the drugstore, it’s worth buying two! It’s demi-matte, so not totally flat and lifeless, but it’s nearly budge proof, similar to like a MAC Pro Longwear, for example. It’s full coverage formula can be a little thick, so I prefer to apply this with a damp sponge, which still gives a medium to full coverage but without the cake face.
Lately I’ve been feeling the matte lip look. I know, it’s spring. And most people go for glossy in the spring and summer. But something about matte, neutral lips has been calling to me lately. NYX Slim Lip Pencils are great for that, with a huge selection of colors, a long wearing finish, coconut oil to help hydrate the lips so they’re never uncomfortable, and did I mention that many of the shades are dupes for MAC lip pencils? Jussayin’. Some of my favorite shades are Peek-a-boo Natural, Ever, Nude Pink, and Mauve. I seriously can’t get enough.
NEUTROGENA SKINCLEARING OIL-FREE MAKEUP ($13.99)
Alright, so I’ve had this foundation in my collection for quite some time, and haven’t touched it in probably equally as long. When I suffered from horrible acne, this was my go-to. And recently, thanks to hormones and stress ganging up on me at the same time, my skin went absolutely bat-shit-crazy and broke out everywhere. And this foundation came to the rescue. I have it in the shade ‘Buff’, which is slightly too dark for me at the moment, but a few more hours in the sun should do the trick. I just mix it with a lighter foundation. This foundation, though, contains Salicylic Acid, which helps to treat breakouts while concealing them with it’s light to medium, but buildable coverage. My preferred method of application is with a flat top kabuki like the Sigma F80, because I find I get the most amount of coverage that way. It’s not drying, keeps you matte, looks as natural as a heavier foundation can (I like it, and I hate looking like I’m wearing heavy foundation, if that’s any consolation), and it doesn’t clog your pores and aggravate any active breakouts. If I had one complaint with this foundation, it’s that the entire line errs on the pink-toned side, and in my experience I’ve found that yellow tones help to neutralize redness associated with acne, but hey, it’s still a great foundation!
I won’t even lie; six days out of seven, I’m totally lazy about my brows. I just don’t always want to pencil them in, and shape them, and make them look perfect and all that. So on my “lazy days” I tend to reach for my ULTA Brow Tint. It’s a tinted brow gel with pretty heavy pigmentation, and I would compare it to the Benefit Gimme Brow in the sense that it too, has a teeny tiny little brush, but not the fibers (there are none that I can see). It comes in three shades, Light, Medium, and Deep, and it retails for $10, but ULTA brand cosmetics are always on sale, so you can usually get a great deal!
