REVIEW – IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES

When you’re a seasonally (or year-round) oily gal like me, you need a good translucent, loose powder in your collection.

Hell, everyone should have one.

For setting, baking, blending, what have you; you need a good powder. And for a long time I relied on my Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder (which I still love!) but when I got a peek at ULTA’s ’21 Days of Beauty’ ad, I immediately spotted this:

The It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder ($24 regular retail, I paid $12). I was immediately drawn to the claims; seriously, like a freakin’ moth to a flame:

What is it : An award winning anti-aging, face finishing powder that delivers a face-perfecting airbrush effect. It absorbs oil and shine, and blurs away the look of pores, without settling into lines and wrinkles. It sets makeup and helps to diffuse the appearance of wrinkles and pores instantly.

Who is it for: Anyone who wants anti-aging benefits and wants to instantly blur away the look of pores and imperfections, diffuse the look of lines and wrinkles on the face, and achieve a more radiant looking, flawless and air-brushed looking complexion.

Why is it different: Developed with leading plastic surgeons, and using anti-aging ingredients including hydrolyzed collagen, and vitamins A, C, E & K, this award-winning micro-finishing powder helps treat skin with anti-aging benefits and give a more youthful radiance while blurring away the look of imperfections. Translucent and colorless. Formulated without talc, parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate mineral oil, petrolatum, synthetic fragrance, and phthalates.

Did you know that once you hit 25, you’re considered to have mature skin?! Dude….I’m 29….and a half…..oy.

Let’s get started!

PACKAGING

When you open the small, matte black box with the product name printed on the outside, you find your typical small, round container with a twist-off top. Inside is a sticker over the sifter, traditional of loose powders. The top is black, the pan itself is a slightly opaque, white plastic. It does come with one of those little powder puff things, but I tossed it. I prefer to apply this with a brush.

FORMULA

This translucent powder actually appears to have the palest yellow hue, however it doesn’t show on the skin. It’s incredibly finely milled, probably the finest powder I’ve ever seen.

APPLICATION & WEAR

My favorite way to apply this, whether its over foundation, concealer, or on it’s own for a smoother appearance to my bare skin, is to tap a very small amount into the lid, and apply it with an e.l.f. Powder Brush (the flat-top one), pressing it into the skin before buffing it out.
One of the most notable qualities of this powder is that it doesn’t not cling to or accentuate any dryness on my combination skin. Almost every single powder I own grabs onto the dry patches around my nose or between my brows, and highlights it like a neon sign in a bar window. Not this one.
It blurs out my large pores; it doesn’t totally eradicate them, but it definitely makes them far less noticeable. It also glides over those pesky little lines under my eyes without settling into them and making them look like the Grand Canyon. Much appreciated.
I’ll be totally honest; now that I’ve had the opportunity to try this at 50% thanks to ULTA’s month-long sale, this is something I would totally pay full price for! It’s worth every penny!!

Overall Rating : 5/5

Considering I tend to steer clear of most powder products for fear of the Sahara-like finish they tend to leave behind, I’m very, very impressed with this particular powder! This is something that is totally worth the price tag!
ULTA’s ’21 Days of Beauty’ is a fantastic time to grab some of your high-end lusts at almost drugstore prices!
Have you guys done any ULTA shopping during this event? What did you pick up? Have any of you tried this powder? Leave me a comment and let me know! I love to hear from you!
