IS IT A DUPE? NARS LIP GLOSS ‘DOLCE VITA’ vs. REVLON COLOR RICHE LE GLOSS ‘REALLY ROSE’

Are you guys ready for another lippie dupe? ‘Cuz sure am!

While we as women (and men, I haven’t forgotten you boys!) have a love of *expensive* makeup, we aren’t all fortunate enough to have the extra funds available to fulfill said love.
And that’s what dupes are for!
So today, I wanted to dupe a product that quite frankly, I had been after for a long, long time – and even owned the drugstore dupe before I owned the high-end version; NARS Lip Gloss in ‘Dolce Vita’, which is an absolutely beautiful, dusty rose, ‘my lips but better’ shade that works on quite literally everyone. It’s gorgeous.
But it’s $26. For one, single lip gloss. Ouch.

What’s so great about it, you ask? Let’s see what NARS says:

What it is:
A moisturizing lip gloss that supports antiaging and imparts long-wearing, sophisticated shine and stunning color for subtle, everyday glamour.

What it does:
NARS Lip Gloss assists with antiaging and lavishes lips in a full spectrum of shades. Nourishing ingredients moisturize, leaving lips smooth and soft. The doe-foot applicator glides smoothly with comfort and precision for long-lasting wear.

According to Pinterest, a dead-on dupe for this gloss is the L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in ‘Really Rose’.

If you want to know more, just keep reading!

NARS Lip Gloss – Dolce Vita ($26 / Sephora)

So let’s start with the original.
In terms of packaging, NARS knows how to appeal to the sophisticate in us all – a clear tube that shows the shade of the product, a matte black, almost silicone-y texture to the twist off cap, and a doe foot applicator that picks up the perfect amount of product and distributes is flawlessly on the lips.

As for formula, it’s got a slightly sticky feel; definitely more sticky than slippery, which helps it adhere to the lips better and in turn, last longer, which I appreciate. If I’m going to spend that much on a lip gloss, I don’t want to be reapplying it every half hour and blowing through the tube in a month’s time.
The shade is absolutely beautiful. As I mentioned above, it’s a sheer, dusty rose shade; the perfect, effortless everyday neutral. Pair it with a smokey eye or a minimalistic look and a pair of sweats, it’s literally going to work with everything. If there is a staple shade of gloss that every girl should have, this is the shade.
But I still can’t get over the price, so let’s try to dupe it, shall we??

L’oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss – Really Rose ($7.99 – ULTA)

The packaging of this gloss is totally different – it’s a squeeze tube with a slanted plastic applicator tip and a gold, plastic twist off cap. To be honest, I am generally not a fan of the squeeze tube; I prefer a doe foot applicator, because when you apply the product directly from the tube, you can lose control, over apply, waste product, end up with gloppy lips, and any and all precision goes out the damn window.
I find I’m better off apply this with my finger. If it were a darker, more opaque color, I could see getting by with using a lip brush for application, but who the hell carries a lip brush in their purse to touch up throughout the day?! Not me!

The L’Oreal formula is a little more slippery, which means it’s not as long lasting as the NARS, but maybe by a mere half hour or so. I have noticed that if I haven’t used this in quite some time, when I squeeze the product out, there’s a clear liquid, like an oil of some sort, that comes out ahead of the actual color. So there’s something in the formula that separates inside the tube; which is an easy fix, by simply smushing the tube around between my hands for a minute, but still….eww….
The color though (let’s face it, that’s why we’re really here, after all) is pretty much dead on. I might venture to say that the NARS is slightly more pink in tone, and the L’Oreal is almost a warmer tone, though the swatch does neither justice – they’re both beautiful!
And at a price point like $7.99, combined with drugstore products forever on sale, you can easily score at least four of these glosses for just under the price of one NARS gloss!

So, is it a dupe??

Guys, splurges are nice, but honestly, if you’re wearing the dupe, I promise you, no one will ever know!!

Single eyeshadows, that is! I know, that was probably mean, huh? But I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Hey guys! I don’t think I could possibly be more excited than I am today! Because…..MY MORPHE SHADOWS AND MAKEUP GEEK CONTOUR POWDERS CAME ON THE SAME DAY!

Excuse me a moment while I happy dance!

Ok, I’m back. Now that they’re tucked in all nice in their Z Palette home, let’s get to talking about them!

MORPHE INDIVIDUAL EYESHADOWS ($2.29 each)

So most of these shades are new to the line. Not the premium shadows, which they now carry in pans that are roughly double the size of these, and they’re also foiled. These are just the standard size pans, in some of their new shades. Some are existing shades. I didn’t get all of them….yet….just a few.

You guys know how much I love Morphe products. Their brushes, their eyeshadow palettes; they’re definitely like, in the top three of my favorite brands. They’re pigmented, long wearing, buttery smooth, and amazing! Check out the photos below!
BTW, the new shades will be marked with a *.

Natural daylight, no flash

With flash

And now for the actual swatches!

Top Row L to R: Glam Life*, Perfection*, Sweets*, Flipside*, Swine*, Buckle Up*, Treasure*

Second Row L to R: Wink For Pink, Petals, Peekaboo*, Pretty In Pink, Sweet Escape*, Glow For Me

Gorgeous, aren’t they?! Well wait ’til you see what’s next!!

MAKEUP GEEK CONTOUR POWDERS ($10 each)

So next up is something that I’ve been lusting after since I heard they were coming out. These are the Makeup Geek Contour powders – a buttery smooth, long wearing, buildable contour powder in eight shades, ranging from cool porcelain to deep shades. There is literally something for everybody! The pans are $10 each, but for the freelance MUA, they have a bundle of all eight shades for just $65!!

I picked up the shade ‘Breakup’ which is for porcelain skin with cool undertones, and ‘Infidelity’, for fair to light skin with cool undertones. I prefer my contour shades very cool toned, but I think I’ll be picking up a few more of their warmer shades too, just to try them out!

These are pretty heavy swatches, but they can be applied sheer for a natural, daytime look, or built up for a super sculpted, chiseled look.

Top – Breakup (cool porcelain) Bottom – Infidelity ( cool fair)

I absolutely love these already, and I haven’t even begun to play with them! I can tell by the swatches that I’ll be adding more to my collection very soon!
